Little Things

Life is made up of lots of little moments with large ones thrown in the mix. It's important to look at the little things, remember them, and smile.

HockeyHockey

I got to watch Jeremy play hockey for the first time ever!!! I've skated with him, watched him coached, watched hockey games witthhhh him but never seen him play. It was great, you can tell he really enjoys it, even if he has to get his legs under him a little bit :)

This is an "Apple Pear"
Apple Pear Apple Pear

I impulse bought it at the grocery store because I was so curious!! Well, you'll never believe it, but it tastes just what you'd think an "Apple Pear" would taste like.. haha but it was so good! I've never seen anything like it.

Harrison

Harrison spent the whole week in Olive Branch!! It's been so fun going on walks after work. He's been so good staying alone most of the day. Good thing he is very entertained by bones.

Meal Planning

Thursday, April 26, 2012 5 comments
I've started meal planning. Rather than just having an idea of what I'm going to make for dinner everyday, I've really been giving it thought. I plan out the entree as well as a side dish and I'm trying a bunch of new recipes found on Pinterest. I enjoy cooking, however, I'm not really good at it. I figure this is a way to learn.. and I have a pretty good guinea pig who will eat mostly anything.

Here's what we did last week:
Hot Dog
Hot Dogs and Baked Beans
Since I don't eat meat, I had "Protein Links". They were surprising reallllly good and tasted ALOT like what I remember hot dogs to be like hah an easy yummy dinner.

Spinach Roll Ups Bajed Zucchini
Spinach Lasagna Roll Ups & Baked Zucchini
Found both these recipes on Pinterest. I actually made the lasagna roll ups the night before and then put them in the oven when we were ready to eat them. Saved a ton of time. The only problem was, I had to share the oven with the zucchini so they didn't get all golden brown.

Stir Fry Egg Rolls
Stir Fry & Egg Rolls
Took the easy route and bought a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables and just followed the instructions. The egg rolls on the other hand were a Pinterest recipe! I made them a little different then the recipe and I think that that's what makes the recipe so great, you can use whatever you have and make it to your liking. anddd now I have a bunch of egg roll wraps to experiment with.

It was a yummy week for sure. I definitly recommend meal planning. I felt like we were eating healthier, anddd I had leftovers to bring to work for lunch the next day which I am very much a fan of.. lunch gets so expensive!

Oh, How Pinteresting - Memphis

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 3 comments
Now, it's no secret that I love Memphis. Lately though, I have grown to a new level of appreciation and love for the Bluff City. Going to work everyday downtown in a building with an amazing view has made me love Memphis even more. I mean, how many people have a view of a pyramid from their office? Maybe only people in Memphis and Egypt? Pretty cool if you ask me.

Tuesday Ten

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 4 comments
Trying something new this week. Linking up with Lena who blogs at Mom 2 Memphis and Ruby

This week's Tuesday Ten theme is 10 beauty products I can't live without. I figured I could do this! I like my routines, especially my morning routine, which includes all the different beauty products I use. I am pretty particular.

All of the products I use can be found at a drug store - nothing too high priced for me, I like 'em cheap!

Tuesday 10

1 - Shampoo - Herbal Essences - I love all the different scents this shampoo comes in. I switch it up allll the time.
2 - Conditioner - Of course I use Herbal Essences conditioner to go along with the shampoo. I do particularly like how clean and shiny it makes my hair look and feel.
3 - Face Wash - Neutrogena Clean Pore Cleanser Mask - I love the tingly feeling this face wash has when you use it. Also, I love that it can be used dry as a face mask and with water in the shower.
4 - Hair Brush - Long hair comes with tangles. Gotta brush those out!
5- Eyeliner - I have used all different kinds of eyeliner and this Cover Girl kind is by far my favorite. I even like this better than some expensive stuff I've used. It goes on smooth and stays on all day.
6 - Chapstick - Burt's Bees chapstick to be specific. I've blogged about it before. I love this stuff and always have at least one tube on me at all times.
7 - Mascara - Similar to the eyeliner, for whatever reason, I like this cheap stuff much better than some expensive brands that I've tried.
8 - Hair Dryer - My hair is fickle in that it doesn't know whether it wants to be straight or curly. Therefore, I have to tell it what to do. I either blow it out straight or use a diffuser sometimes to enhance the curl.
9 - Lotion - Without this stuff I am so itchy!! This is my favorite kind, too. It smells so good.
10 - Hair Straightener - I don't use mine everyday, but it's definitely something I love. I use mine to straighten and even curl my hair. I love things that are multifunctional!

Bloggy Date

Monday, April 23, 2012 1 comment
I finally went on my first blog date. I'm not going to lie. I was nervous. Seriously. The boy kept making fun of me on the days leading up to it that I sounded like I was going on a blind date. I guess I was worried that we wouldn't get along or that we were different than the people we are on our blogs. I really couldn't have been more wrong.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren who blogs over at Lauren Darlings. After meeting her, I have no idea why I was so nervous!! It was like talking to an old friend. Even though we had never met before we already knew so much about each other and it was so great talking in person.

Our plans didn't work out exactly as we wanted them to. We planned on going to a baseball game to see her husband pitch. It rained. While waiting to see if the game would be cancelled, we sat in the ballpark and just chatted. Even with the rain, it really was great.

I look forward to hanging out more while she's in Memphis and love how relationships develop in this crazy blog world.

Sad because of the rain.

If you don't already know and love Lauren's blog you should go read it. Right now. Seriously. Do it.

Saved by the Bell

We have recently discovered that Saved by the Bell is on Netflix. The boy always (I mean really always) talks about this show and how much he loves it! He says his dream girl is Kelly Kapowski (at least I'm brunette, right?). The show is alitttttle bit before my time so this is all new to me. I have to say some of the references, quotes, and especially the outfits are amazing. It's so funny to see how different things were then and especially the very interesting way people dressed. And I'm sure it was totally normal for kids to start randomly dancing in the middle of high school back then.

Someone was carrying around a pencil box!! Do you remember these??? And all the secret compartments?

Gotta love the spandex under the shorts...

There is just so much to love.

Any Saved by the Bell fans out there?

Shortest Vacation Ever

Tuesday, April 17, 2012 1 comment
By the time I got to New Jersey it was pretty much about time to turn around. A lot of family time was squeezed into such a short time. I just wish I could have stayed longer.

Saturday night my Mom was honored for 6 years of service at my brothers high school. She has done so much over the years, and it was nice to see her recognized for all the hard work and time she's put in. She was so nervous but she got up and gave a great great speech! I was proud of her. I even got a shout out :)

Sunday two babies in my family got baptized. They were both born earlier this year and this was the first time I got to meet them! Pretty much the cutest babies ever.

Look at that face!!

NHL Playoffs: Round I

Thursday, April 12, 2012 1 comment
For those of you who don't know, we're pretty big hockey fans around here. By around here, I definitely don't mean Memphis. I pretty much just mean me and Jeremy and a few of our friends around here. We're absolutely a minority in Memphis. I went to work yesterday all excited that playoffs were starting - nobody knew what I was talking about.

Well, NHL playoffs are exciting (and stressful) on their own. This year, it's worse. This year, my team and the boy's team play in the first round. Meaning one of us is going to be bummed throughout the entire rest of playoffs.

I have always been a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan. I even interned for them when I was in college (pretty much the most amazing experience ever). The boy on the other hand.. well, he's always been a diehard Pittsburgh Penguins fan. They're rivals. It gets pretty interesting around here when they play each other. It gets especially interesting when they play each other during playoffs!

Last night was the first game. I was wearing my orange, Jeremy was in his Pens gear. The Flyers won in overtime after coming back from a score of 3-0. Let's just say the boy was not too pleased. I am pretty nervous though that the Pens are going to come back next game with a vengeance.

Tomorrow is the next game.. let's see what happens.

- I announced the winner of my Oreo Giveaway!! Congrats again to Kassi from Truly Lovely for winning, she gets a package of birthday cake oreos anddddd a special personalized blog embroidery that I made just for her!

- This was the first Easter (I think ever) that I haven't spent with my family. I got to spend it with Jeremy's family and I really had a wonderful day.

- I go to New Jersey this weekend!!! I can't wait to see my family - it's been too long. I also finally get to meet my new baby cousins! So happy about this.

So much is happening! I'm looking forward to a solid routine and getting back to more consistent blogging. I miss everyone!

What's Happening

Thursday, April 5, 2012 7 comments
I have been very detached from the blog world the past few days. I blame Spring Cleaning. The boy has been at a work trip thing for the past few days so after work, I've been heading home and cleaning my apartment. Not just straightening it, but purging and deep cleaning. It is so refreshing! I feel so clean.

So, because of this, I have been far from blogging, but I have missed it and can't wait to catch up!!

Anyways, I want to take this moment to catch you all up on what's been going on with me.

This is my last week at my current job at Campbell Clinic.

I know, I know, didn't I just start this one? Yes, I did. I've worked there about a month, but I got an amazing job offer at Morgan Keegan and really feel like this is a career path I have to take.

Photobucket

I'll be working in mutual funds, I have not a clue what I'll be doing, and I have zero experience with this kind of job. I do have a great friend that works there and absolutely loves it, I think this will be a good fit. If you told me a few years ago that this is where I would be I wouldn't have believed you. This is so far from anything I could have ever imagined.

Something I'm really looking forward to is working in downtown Memphis! I cannot wait to start (on Monday!! eep!!!) and see where this journey takes me.

We spent Saturday in the park having a picnic, playing with Harrison, and just relaxing in the nice weather. It was pretty perfect.
